SSEN Transmission Taynuilt – Creag Dhubh Reinforcement Project - March 2026 Public Consultation

Please find attached a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Notice and associated route options figure that has been submitted to Argyll and Bute Council today 26 February 2026 with regards to the proposed replacement of the Taynuilt to Creag Dhubh 132kV overhead line and the replacement of the Nant 132kV overhead line.

Due to the increase in renewable energy generation in Argyll, some of the existing network needs to be upgraded and reinforced to ensure supply and support the transition to net zero emissions. Therefore, we are progressing plans to reinforce the Taynuilt – Creag Dhubh 132kV overhead line (OHL).

The project comprises two main elements, approximately 12.5km replacement of the Taynuilt to Creag Dhubh 132kV OHL and approximately 4.1km replacement of the Nant 132kV OHL.

Two in-person public consultation events have been planned and will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday 11 March 2026 at Taynuilt Village Hall, B845, Taynuilt, PA35 1JH between 2pm – 7pm.

Thursday 12 March 2026 at Portsonachan Village Hall, Portsonachan, PA33 1BJ between 2pm-7pm.

Further events are provisionally planned for August 2026 and May 2027 at the same venues detailed above.

These initial events will provide detail of the proposed development and allow feedback from members of the public and other interested parties. These comments must be received no later than 23 April 2026. The subsequent events will be carried out before submission of a planning application.

The events will be advertised in local press for 3 weeks before the events and via our website. We will also undertake a targeted mail drop of informational flyers.

Any comments made to us as the Applicant are not representations to Scottish Ministers as the decision makers. There will be opportunity to make formal representations to Scottish Ministers via the Energy Consents Unit following the submission of the section 37 application.

If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Louise
