Notice of Proposal to Designate the Argyll and Bute Short Term Let Control Area
Notice of Proposal to Designate the Argyll and Bute Short Term Let Control Area
The Argyll & Bute Council is currently undergoing a public consultation on a proposal to designate part of Argyll and Bute as a Short Term Let Control Area.
The Council has a statutory duty to consult all Community Councils located within the proposed Short Term Let Control Area. As such please find attached the formal Notice of Proposal to Designate the Argyll and Bute Short Term Let Control Area (STLCA) along with map of the area which is proposed for designation.
We welcome your views on this proposal and invite you to review all the documentation on
• the purpose and effect of a Short Term Let Control Area.
• the reasons why the Council proposes to introduce a Short Term Let Control Area along with the justification for the geographical area proposed.
• the online questionnaire.
You can find all of the above here https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/planning-and-building/planning-policy/proposed-short-term-lets-control-area
When you review the enclosed maps you may find that only very small areas of your Community Council Area are within the proposed Short Term Let Control Area. This is because of the way the boundaries of Community Councils and the boundaries for which housing data is routinely collected (known as Housing Market Areas) relate to each other and for no other reason.
Consultation on the proposal to designate the Argyll and Bute Short Term Let Control Area (STLCA) is open until midnight on 1st November 2026. All representations should be made using the above questionnaire.
If you have any questions, feel free to email Development Policy email ldp@argyll-bute.gov.uk .
